Portsmouth Man Arrested on Drugs, Child Pornography Charges
Tyrone Jarest is being held on $40,000 cash bail.

A local man was arrested today by the Portsmouth Police Department for a number of charges, including possession of child pornography.
Tyrone A. Jarest, 51, of Kent Street in Portsmouth, was arrested on Aug. 7, and charged with two counts of distribution of child sex abuse images, both felonies, possession of child sexual abuse images, a felony, and two counts of possession of controlled drugs.
According to a press statement, a search warrant was executed at 9 Kent St. after “a month’s long investigation into the illegal use of computers and the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse images.” Jarest was arrested later. He is being held on $40,000 cash bail and will be video arraigned on Aug. 8.

The New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted Portsmouth Police, and more charges could be filed in the case, according to a statement. The task force was created to protect the state’s children by continuing to work on enforcement of current laws that were written to prevent the creation and distribution of child sexual abuse images.
Back in 2002, according to Seacoastonline.com, Jarest was arrested on Islington Street for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal threatening.
