Portsmouth Man Arrested For DWI After Crash

Correy Fountain was arrested after a Lafayette Road crash. Witnesses alleged that he drove into the opposite lane, rolled over four times.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A local man was arrested this morning after a single-vehicle crash on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth, according to police. Correy Fountain, 35, of White Cedar Boulevard in Portsmouth, was arrested on March 5, 2018, for aggravated driving while intoxicated and operating after suspension. Officers were sent to a crash report at just after midnight this morning on Lafayette Road near State Street Discount, according to Lt. Mike Maloney of the Portsmouth Police Department.

“Upon arrival, the lone occupant of the vehicle was entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Portsmouth Fire Department,” Maloney stated. “(The) on scene investigation by responding officers determined that the subject was under the influence of alcohol. The subject was taken into custody and transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital by ambulance for serious but non-life threatening injuries.”

Maloney said that witnesses at the scene alleged that the vehicle was traveling north on Lafayette Road when it crossed the center line into the southbound lane.

“The vehicle then swerved to the right striking several objects and rolling over,” Maloney added. “Witnesses report the vehicle rolling over four times.”

Fountain was processed and released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail. He’s due in Rockingham County Superior Court on March 23.
