Portsmouth Man Arrested For June Planet Fitness Assault Case
Investigation by Rochester Police leads to the arrest of Jordan Lamonde for allegedly attacking a young woman outside the club in June.

ROCHESTER, NH — A Portsmouth man has been arrested and charged with the brutal assault of a woman in Rochester in mid-June outside of the local Planet Fitness, according to police. Jordan C. Lamonde, 22, of Portsmouth, was arrested on July 24, 2017, on a felony second-degree assault charge. Police arrested Lamonde at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after what Chief Paul Toussaint called “an aggressive investigation” into the attack.

At around 10 p.m. on June 12, officers were sent to the Planet Fitness on North Main Street in Rochester for a report of a teen who had been assaulted. The woman stated that she had walked out to her vehicle when she was attacked from behind by a man she didn’t know.

Police circulated surveillance footage of the incident in an effort to get tips about the case. Lamonde was developed as a suspect and picked up this afternoon. He was held on $150,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Strafford County Superior Court.
"This was a vicious, unprovoked attack that shocked our community,” said Toussaint, in a statement, “and I am proud to report that the suspect has been identified and apprehended.”
