A Portsmouth man was ordered held on bail Wednesday after police say he assaulted his ex-girlfriend with a cococut, a bottle of water and threatened to kill her.

Destin J. Stewart, 21, of 10 Wedgewood Road was ordered held on $3,000 cash bail by Portsmouth District Court Judge Sawato Gardner Wednesday. He was charged with three counts of simple assault, three counts of criminal threatening, one count of stalking, one count of obstructing a report of a crime or injury and one count of false imprisonment, according to court documents.

According to an affidavit filed by Portsmouth Police Officer Nicholas Small, alleged assault began on July 27 when Stewart contacted the victim and asked her to come to his residence so they could "talk things out."
