In any city it’s a challenge to find the perfect parking space (no wonder George Costanza would make a big deal out of it). It doesn’t matter if it’s the monster sized New York City, or a quiet seaside town in North Carolina; parking can be difficult. Here at Portsmouth Forward our goal is for you to enjoy Portsmouth, and give you tips on how to enjoy this city. Stick with us for a few as we give you some tips on how to survive parking in Portsmouth:
- Did you know that there is a free shuttle service to bring you into downtown Portsmouth? Well now you do! If you go onto PortsmouthParkingShuttle.com you will find out that this shuttle service gives you an easy, hassle-free, and free way to get into the city. The shuttle will pick you up at Connect Community Church (located at the Market Street Extension), where you’ll park for free, and bring you right into the heart of Portsmouth. The shuttle service goes through it’s pick up points every ten minutes and runs from Friday to Sunday.
- If you want to get right into the center of Portsmouth on your own (challenge accepted!), ParkPortsmouth.comhas a detailed map of parking locations in Portsmouth. This site numbers how many parking spots there are on each street, which will help you gameplan where to park. For constant updates on parking situations in Portsmouth you can even follow them on Twitter at @ParkPortsmouth.
- On PortsmouthNH.com there is a map labeling parking garages, off-street pay parking, and most importantly free-parking! Did you know that there are eleven free parking lots located around downtown Portsmouth? You do now, so go out and find that parking spot you’ll tell your kids about one day!
We hope this is helpful, and remember to share this information; it’s no secret, but it’s enough to help you start off your Portsmouth adventure on the right foot!
