Portsmouth Police Arrest Hampton Man for Dealing Heroin

Brian Bambushew was charged yesterday by the High Intensity Interdiction Team; arraigned in court earlier today.

A Hampton man is facing charges after allegedly dealing heroin in a parking lot on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth.

Brian Bambushew, 21, of 61 Ocean Blvd. in Hampton, was arrested on Jan. 7, and charged with three counts of sale of a controlled drug.

According to police, the department’s newly formed “High Intensity Interdiction Team” along with detectives were in the parking lot around 5:45 p.m. on the date in question, investigating drug activity on Lafayette Road, allegedly involving Bambushew. He was later arrested and held on $2,000 cash bail. He was arraigned earlier today and is due back in court on Jan. 13.

“(The) drug arrests is one part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to hold those who profit from the sale of drugs accountable,” said Lt. Mark Newport in a statement. “In addition, the Department continues its efforts to promote and extend community resources to those struggling with addiction.”
