Portsmouth Police Log: Fireworks, a Missing Nurse, and Stopping for a Nap
Plus, a store reports denied credit cards for gift cards, a dispute over an ex being in a home, and a baby crying on an abandoned 911 call.

Here are some excerpts from the Portsmouth Police Department dispatch log from June 27, 2015:
- 9:16 a.m. An alarm activation was reported on Maplewood Avenue.
- 11:17 a.m. An accidental 911 call came in from Corporate Drive.
- 11:20 a.m. Police were sent to Woodlawn Circle for a dispute. A man reported that his ex-wife was at his home and not supposed to be there. He, however, was about an hour away. The officer spoke to a woman, a caretaker, and another relative and determined it was a civil matter.
- 11:32 a.m. An abandoned 911 call was reported from Heritage Avenue with an open line with dispatch reporting that it sounded like there was a child crying in the background and a television on.
- 11:42 a.m. A lost laptop was reported on Borthwick Avenue.
- 12:02 p.m. Police are investigating a fraud allegation on Middle Street concerning harassing phone calls with a suspect.
- 12:53 p.m. An officer was sent to Brewster Street to check the wellbeing of a woman in a car. The woman stated she was traveling to Fremont and decided to stop and take a nap.
- 12:57 p.m. Police were sent to Borthwick Avenue to assist EMTs with an intoxicated woman who was reportedly being unruly. The woman was unaware that the ER had to do more tests and the call was cleared.
- 1:42 p.m. Police were sent to State Street for suspicious activity which turned out to be a man with a Slim Jim waiting for his wife to come and help him get into this car.
- 2:57 p.m. An officer was sent to Pleasant Street for a trespass complaint involving numerous people on a roof who shouldn’t be there. The officer reported that about 30 people were ordered off the roof. There was no signage informing people to not be on the roof, according to the report.
- 3:05 p.m. Police were sent to assist fire with a boat leaking fuel on the southbound side of the Route 1 Bypass.
- 3:33 p.m. A shelf, blanket, and frying pan were found on Parrott Avenue.
- 3:38 p.m. The Dracut Police Department called Portsmouth asking for assistance locating a girl who might be at Water Country. An officer checked the lot for the vehicle but couldn’t find it in the parking lots.
- 3:47 p.m. An officer was sent to a store on Woodbury Avenue reported that two African-American men and two African-American women were in the store attempting to purchase gift cards with multiple credit cards. They also purchased food. Some cards were denied but others worked.
- 3:57 p.m. An officer was called to Lafayette Road for a report of a man acting weird in the parking lot and spending time in a bathroom but not purchasing anything. “He seems drunk or stoned,” according to the report. The officer checked the man out and determined he was not impaired.
- 4:09 p.m. A Cass Street resident reported finding a scooter behind her shed. A wrecker came by and towed the moped from the scene.
- 4:31 p.m. Police were sent to Woodbury Avenue to investigate a threat that a woman reportedly had with a gas station employee. The issue turned out to be an argument about who owned a cellphone. Both parties were moved along.
- 4:40 p.m. A man reported losing his credit card downtown.
- 7:44 p.m. Police were sent to the Best Inn to check on a travel nurse for Portsmouth Regional Hospital who called in sick earlier in the week and was a no-show on Thursday and they were concerned for her wellbeing. An officer went to the motel and her vehicle was not in the lot but her stuff was still in the room and “very orderly.” The hotel said they hadn’t seen her since Thursday. Police checked in with the company that booked the room who then gave a number to police that went to voicemail and appeared to be for another person.
- 7:59 p.m. A business on Lafayette Road was given a warning about setting off fireworks.
- 8:08 p.m. Dracut Police called Portsmouth again looking for a missing juvenile that might be suicidal and was last pinged by cellphone at 11 a.m. in the area. An officer checked the Water Country parking lot again but didn’t find the vehicle.
- 11:12 p.m. A loitering complaint was filed on Lafayette Road.
- 11:19 p.m. A past tense domestic and possible theft of meds case was investigated on Lafayette Road. A BOLO was put out for a man.
- 11:36 p.m. A man sleeping in a car on Pierce Island was “moved along.”
- 11:47 p.m. Police were sent to Lafayette Road for a noise complaint. Two people were arguing and told to keep it down.
