On November 14, 2013, the Portsmouth Police Commission voted to appoint Ofc. Laura Cattabriga as the Elementary School Resource Officer to the three public elementary schools and Ofc. Duane Jacques as a Detective assigned to the Bureau of Investigative Services.
SRO Cattabriga and Det. Jacques will begin their assignments under the detective division immediately and both look forward to the new challenges that await them.

Detective Jacques grew up in Lakes Region and graduated from Bishop Brady High School in 1996. He immediately entered the United States Marine Corps. As a Marine, Detective Jacques was selected to be a member of the Presidential Support guard. He completed his training while in Washington D.C. and was ultimately assigned to guard duty at the Presidential Retreat Camp David

Detective Jacques began his law enforcement career in 2000 as a Rockingham County Corrections Officer. In 2001, he was hired by the City of Somersworth where he was a patrol officer for four and a half years. Detective Jacques has served the City of Portsmouth since 2005 where he has been assigned as a patrol officer. Detective Jacques worked as a Field Training Officer and is a valued member of the department’s Honor Guard, Crime Scene Team and the Seacoast Emergency Response Team.
Laura Cattabriga has been an officer with the Portsmouth Police Department since May 2001. She is a current member of the crime scene investigations team, a field training officer and a board member of the Portsmouth Police Relief Association.
Cattabriga is originally from Laconia, NH and is a 2001 graduate of Saint Anselm College, where she received her Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to her employment at Portsmouth Police Department she served on the Laconia Police Department as a part time officer and dispatcher.
Cattabriga is looking forward to her position in the Portsmouth Elementary Schools as the School Resource officer. She has coordinated and participated in several community policing events and functions during her time in patrol as well as serving on the Portsmouth High School Volleyball coaching staff from 2005-2009 as the head coach of the Freshman and Junior Varsity Teams.
