Portsmouth Police Warn of Gas Main Leak
Police issue all-clear for the area of State and Columbia streets on Aug. 8.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Portsmouth Police asked residents to avoid the area of State Street and Columbia Street until further notice due to a gas main leak, according to a post on Facebook on Aug. 8. The police and fire departments, as well as Unitil is on scene assessing the situation. According to alerts, the entire area is being evacuated. The alert was posted at just after 10 a.m. At just after noon, police issued an all-clear for the area.
