Program Description

Details

Ranked choice voting (RCV) works like run-off elections but is done instantly on a single ballot. It allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference to ensure that the winner truly has the most voter support. RCV promotes healthy competition in our elections without worrying about vote splitting, or "the spoiler effect," or the need for strategic voting. It can lessen negative campaigning and increase voter turnout. At this presentation, you’ll learn the basics of ranked choice voting, including its benefits and the problems it solves. Hear about other states using RCV, and about the non-partisan effort to bring ranked choice voting to NH via our legislative process. There will be time for discussion and Q & A.

Registration is required.

Tiani Coleman is the president of NH Ranked Choice Voting, a group organized to educate New Hampshire voters about and advocate for Ranked Choice Voting ("RCV"). Their effort welcomes volunteers, activists, educators, elected officials, academics, authors, influencers, family members, and casual supporters.
