Seacoast Pathways, a non-clinical mental health program for adults in the greater seacoast, is readying its staff and members for a move into its modern, new facility at Chinburg Properties on Brewery Lane just off Islington Street. The target date is March 15.
The "clubhouse" operates under a model of a "work-ordered-day" where members in recovery have a welcoming and supportive place to work on job skills as well as share reciprocal support with other members and find new friendships and meaning in their lives.
The new facility will offer approx. 1700 square feet of space that will be divided into four major areas or units: reception, kitchen & café, and two business units. Members and staff will work side-by-side in areas of their choice as they operate a clubhouse. All four units offer great opportunities for acquiring skills that can be used to apply for jobs or just feeling valued and appreciated in a community - both are powerful keys to recovery. Members will hold down the receptionist office and work the phones, plan and prepare meals, contribute articles to the newsletter, "Pathseekers," and clean the physical plant. These are just a few of the many tasks in running a clubhouse members voluntarily choose.

With a new technology program, Seacoast Pathways will also offer to members who are interested opportunities to learn videomaking, podcasting, advertising and promotional skills using up to date equipment and software.
The clubhouse will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9:15 a.m. and 3:30 pm. On other days (including weekends) opportunities will exist for "discovery days," allowing members and staff to gather for social occasions such as movie or sports watching on a big screen TV, cooking classes, crafts and other themed events, etc.
