Seacoast Wind Ensemble Accepting Applications for Scholarship

The Seacoast Wind Ensemble begins accepting applications for scholarship to support high school musicians.

The Seacoast Wind Ensemble (SWE) will begin accepting applications from high school musicians for the Paul M. Erwin Scholarship Program. Applications will be accepted from January 15-March 1, 2015.

The $500 scholarship can be used to support musical endeavors, including: music camp, new instrument/equipment, lessons, tuition, etc. Students must reside in York County, ME, Rockingham or Strafford County, NH, or Essex County, MA. Paul M. Erwin (1966-2014) was a talented composer, arranger, and musician. He premiered over 200 arrangements/original works in his short lifetime. He was a vital part of the New Hampshire seacoast music community and served as conductor of SWE from 1993-2006.

SWE, established in 1984, is a 50-piece symphonic band, based out of Exeter, New Hampshire. Comprised of musicians from all professional occupations and trades, SWE performs annually throughout New Hampshire, Maine and northern Massachusetts.

Today, SWE performs under the direction of Music Director/Conductor, Mark Zielinski, who serves as Lecturer of Music Education at the University of New Hampshire and Assistant Conductor, Jonathan Roth, who is Music Director of the Shapleigh School in Kittery, Maine.
