Navy SEALs for Camp Sunshine
On July 30, eight Navy SEALs will complete a reverse triathlon to raise $100,000 for Camp Sunshine

On the morning of Thursday, July 30, 8 active duty Navy SEALs will embark on the Summit to Sunshine Challenge, a reverse triathlon for an exceptional cause. The goal of this ambitious mission is to raise $100,000 for Camp Sunshine, which is enough to sponsor a session at Camp Sunshine for 50 military and special operations families that have a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
The Summit to Sunshine Challenge will begin with a 7.6 mile run down Mt. Washington. They will then bike 83.4 miles from New Hampshire to Camp Mataponi in Maine. From there, they will swim 3.9 miles to Point Sebago Resort, where an appreciative crown will greet them and thank them for their support of Camp Sunshine.
Founded by Anna Gould in 1984, Camp Sunshine, located in Casco, ME is a year-round retreat, with 30 one-week sessions, that provides respite, support, joy, and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of the child’s illness. As one participant describes their experience, “I came away from camp renewed and ready to face the challenges that await me.... Thanks to our time at camp I have an appreciation for life again and am ready to face these challenges. This generous gift (week at Camp Sunshine) has lifted the spirit of an entire family.”
