Stratham Attorney Arrested on Witness Tampering Charges

Portsmouth Police: Ronald Hoffman allegedly gave a former client recommendations during domestic violence case.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Police have arrested a local attorney on numerous charges connected to a previous domestic violence incident, according to Portsmouth Police. Ronald Hoffman a.k.a. Ragnar Huffman, 57, of Crestview Drive in Stratham, was arrested on a warrant on Feb. 15, 2017, for three counts of conspiracy to commit witness tampering, two counts of criminal liability for conduct of another, and two counts of tampering with witnesses, all felonies, as well as two misdemeanor counts of criminal liability.

Hoffman, according to Lt. Mark Newport of the Portsmouth Police Department, was arrested after a detective investigated a domestic violence case involving a former client of Hoffman’s.

“The client alleged their actions, which the client was arrested on for violations of domestic violence orders, was conducted on the recommendations the client received by Attorney Hoffman,” Newport stated.

Hoffman was processed and transported to jail after refusing bail services. He was arraigned today and released on $5,000 cash bail. Hoffman is due in court for a probable cause hearing on Feb. 22.
