Teen Injured in Route 16 Multi-Vehicle Crash
NHSP: Donald Pierce of Kingston driving while intoxicated this morning; struck two other vehicles stopped at construction zone.

MILTON, NH — An early morning crash on the eastern side of the state sent one to the hospital and landed another man was a DWI charge, according to New Hampshire State Police. Donald Pierce, 56, of Kingston, was arrested on Aug. 9, 2016, and charged with driving while intoxicated.

According to state police, at just before 1:30 a.m. this morning, troopers from Troop A were sent to a report of a multi-vehicle accident on Route 16 in Milton. Troopers working a construction detail were the first to respond to the scene and found three vehicles in the center of the highway, with “severe front-end damage,” according to Sgt. John Hennessey.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford Explorer, being operated by Pierce, was traveling south when it entered a single lane construction zone. A flagger had stopped northbound traffic and a number of signs and trooper cruisers indicated that there was a shift in traffic, according to state police. Pierce allegedly drove through a cone package and into the stopped northbound traffic. He allegedly struck a Hyundai Elantra, being operated by a Dover teen, and a Toyota FJ Cruiser, being driven by a Massachusetts man, according to state police. The teen was taken by Milton Fire and Rescue teams to Wentworth Douglas Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Pierce was arrested for DWI and held in protective custody due to his alleged intoxicated state. He’s due in Rochester District Court on Aug. 23.

The roadway was shut down for approximately two hours, according to state police. State police were assisted by Milton Police and EMTs.
