MANCHESTER – In 2012, The Derryfield School was invited to be part of the Malone Scholars Program. According to the Malone Family Foundation, which administers the program, this prestigious grant is given to only fifty schools nationwide. Derryfield is the only school in New Hampshire to be selected for the program. Schools are selected on the basis of their “academic caliber; the quality of their staff; excellent accommodations for gifted and talented students; strong AP/IB and enrichment programs; attention to the individual student’s needs, interests and talents; strength and stability; a commitment to financial aid; and an economically, culturally, ethnically, and socially diverse population.” The Malone Scholarship is given to one student in each grade 7 through 12 whose family qualifies for need-based financial aid.
The School may also grant two types of Merit Scholarships each year. The first is the Founders Scholars Program, which “recognizes students who exhibit qualities that the founding members of The Derryfield School envisioned - qualities of respect for diverse ideas, beliefs and cultures; commitment to personal integrity and fairness; and willingness to institute thoughtful change.” The second is the Core Values Scholars Program, which recognizes “bright, motivated students who demonstrate qualities that will add meaning and vitality to Derryfield’s core values.” The School’s core values are: Aim High, Balance, Character, Community, Families and Individuality.
For the 2014-2015 school year, Derryfield’s priority application deadline is January 31, with a rolling admission process thereafter. Contact the school’s Admission Office for more information at 603.669.4524, ext. 6203, or visit the website at www.derryfield.org.
