Oil Paintings of Our Seacoast

Christopher Volpe

For the months of January and February we welcome Christopher Volpe as our featured artist, with his new show "Transient Light: Paintings of Our Seacoast."

“The ocean and especially its skies intrigue and enchant us,” Volpe said. “As subjects for landscape paintings, the atmospheres and tonalities in sea mists, dusks, moonrises, and just the subtle lights and shadows in the shapes of the clouds, seem to offer a vast array of metaphors for states of being, feelings and moods.”

Volpe created all of the paintings in “Transient Light” in the studio, drawing equally on imagination and memories gathered observing and painting at the ocean from Rafe’s Chasm in Gloucester and Plum Island in Massachusetts, to Star Island, Hampton, and Rye, N.H., Kittery Point and Ogunquit, ME.

Please join us for an Opening Reception Friday, January 8th, from 5-7:30 pm, in conjunction with the monthly Art Round Town Gallery Walk.

Masks will be required and social distancing procedures will be observed.

Please ensure your mask fits snugly over your mouth and nose, as per CDC guidelines.

Thank you kindly for your consideration.

Stay safe, stay well!
