Vandalized Portsmouth Lion Statue Repaired
Someone knocked over the historic statue at the Rockingham building earlier this month.
One of the historic Rockingham lion statues that was vandalized earlier this month has been repaired.
Someone knocked over the statue, which was bolted to the ground at the Rockingham building.
"We're really distraught," said Karen Andersen, president of the building's condominium association, soon after the incident.
On Friday, the statue was put back in its place after the association paid to get it repaired.
In addition to condos, the downtown State Street building houses the Library Restaurant. It used to be a hotel.
The building's four statues date back to 1872, Andersen said.
Police are investigating the vandalism.
