VIDEO: Miss Stacy Tugboat Rescued
Eugenia Moran, Portsmouth Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard pull tugboat to safety.
The Miss Stacy tugboat nearly capsized after she took on water at the base of the Memorial Bridge Tuesday afternoon, but was pulled to safety by the crew of the Eugenia Moran.
The crew aboard the Miss Stacy reported they were in distress around 2 p.m. as the strong current of the Piscataqua River and high tide nearly swamped the vessel that has played a key role in the Memorial Bridge replacement project.
The crew made their way to safety as the Eugenia Moran from Moran Towing arrived about 10 minutes later and attached a tow line to the Miss Stacy. The U.S. Coast Guard and Portsmouth Firefighters responded with a ladder truck, fire engine and ambulance along with the Portsmouth Fire boat.
