WATCH: Peer Recovery Services Crucial in the Fight Against Opioid Addiction
Two survivors offer a glimpse into the work being done at Safe Harbor Recovery Center.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Nearly 500 men and women died in New Hampshire last year because of a drug overdose. The state is working hard to build substance abuse services while in the midst of the opioid crisis. Last year, New Hampshire provided funding for peer recovery services in the state. Safe Harbor Recovery Center, which opened in July 2016 in Portsmouth, is one result. Ashley Hurteau, the volunteer and program coordinator, and Cassandra Thomas, recoveree, share their experiences in the video below.
