Where's the Best Free Parking Near Downtown Portsmouth?

Now that summer's here, locals and tourists alike are flocking to downtown Portsmouth.

Virtually all of the downtown parking spots have pay meters. There's also the parking garage on Hanover Street.

Another option for people who don't want to fork over money for parking is to grab a free, on-street spot close to the downtown area and walk in.

Parrott Avenue, Austin Street, and Hancock Street (shown in the map above) have sections of free on-street parking.
