2 Guns, Knife, Heroin, Meth Seized After Salem Traffic Stop, Police Say

A 35-year-old convicted felon from Warner and his 22-year-old companion face a host of charges after Salem police said they found guns, knives, heroin, and methamphetamine following a traffic stop on Route 28 Thursday.

Gordon Potter, of Warner, had a Kel-Tec silenced sub-machine pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a hunting knife in a vehicle driven by Aliza Droiun, of Laconia, police said. A detective pulled the car over at about 10 a.m. after it was weaving between marked lanes, police said.

The detective said Potter, sitting in the passenger seat, was trying to conceal a needle in his hand, with the knife by his side. Potter became upset, gave a false name, and wouldn’t comply with commands, the detective said. Several backup units responded and the couple was taken into custody without incident.

Police said they found a small amount of heroin and pills in the vehicle in addition to the guns and knife. During the booking process, police said they also found a quantity of meth in Droiun’s rectum.

Potter is a convicted felon and had a previous warrant for violating parole, police said. He was charged with:

  • Three counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm
  • Heroin possession
  • Prescription pill possession
  • False report to law enforcement
  • Parole violation

Droiun was charged with:

  • Meth possession
  • Transporting drugs

Potter was held on $250,000 bail. Droiun was released on $5,000 bail.
