A Riddle to Many: The State Budget

With a state budget that totals billions of dollars, it is incumbent on all of us to pay attention to how it is developed, and to understand the 5-phase process by which it is formed and vetted for each biennium.

Can the whole process be improved, be more transparent, be more efficient, and thus ultimately bring about New Hampshire taxpayers getting more bang for the buck? Rep. John Cebrowski of Bedford thinks that it can, and is the sponsor of legislation to do so that will be decided during the current 2014 legislative session.

Rep. Cebrowski appeared on a recent “Tell It Like It Is” show to explain how the state budget is developed, and how his legislation, with its combination of good business practices and common sense, will result in the more efficient delivery of state services and the optimum use of the state’s finances.

As we all know, as costs continue to rise, so do our taxes. Antiquated ways of doing things must be replaced by methods more in tune with today’s challenges if we are to have confidence that our money is most effectively used. We simply cannot afford anything less. Watch the show, and hear what Rep. Cebrowski has to say.
