Salem Police: Man Who Tried to Set Porch on Fire Apprehended
UPDATE: Salem Police have caught a man they suspect set a porch on fire on North Main Street.

SALEM, NH -
Update, 5:18 p.m. Suspect is in custody.
Update, 4:46 p.m. Salem Police have expanded the department’s search area in an attempt to find the suspected arsonist.

Update, 3:33 p.m. Salem Police have an active search situation on North Main Street looking for the man allegedly involved in the fire incident. He is described as a white male, 6-feet tall, and weighs about 200 lbs. If you see him, police advise, call 911.

Alerts online are reporting that Salem Fire and Rescue teams are at 417 N. Main St. in Salem attempting to extinguish a fire on a rear deck of a home.
Rockingham Alerts followed up the report stating that after firefighters arrive, they found out that the case was suspected to be an attempted arson after a “suspect fled on foot, building covered with gasoline.”
Police are being called to the scene to assist firefighters.
