Alleged Stalker, Runs from Salem Cops, His Child, and Gets Tased: Report

Anthony Miele reportedly left his child alone in a vehicle on Route 28 while trying to escape a warrant arrest.

SALEM, NH — Salem Police arrested a father allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop after officers discovered an active stalking warrant against the driver, according to a press statement. Anthony L. Miele, 36, of Manchester, was arrested on Nov. 11, 2016, and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, disobeying an officer, and other motor vehicle charges.

At around 7 p.m. tonight, officers made a traffic stop on South Broadway near Denny’s for motor vehicle violations, according to a report. After stopping the vehicle, it was learned that the driver – Miele – had an active warrant out of Epping for stalking, according to Sgt. Jason Smith of the Salem Police Department.

“When the attempt to arrest the driver was made,” he alleged, “the male subject took off running northbound on Route 28, leaving his 2-year-old child alone in the vehicle. After a brief foot pursuit and struggle, including a Taser deployment, the male driver was arrested.”

Miele was processed and refused bail. He will be arraigned on Monday. The child was released to a family member and a report will be forwarded to DCYF.
