Salem Theater Company Sets October Run For Cult Hit Musical 'Ride The Cyclone'

SALEM, NH — Cue Zero Theatre Company will bring "Ride The Cyclone" to Salem this fall, with performances scheduled for Oct. 2 to Oct. 4 at the Arts Academy of New Hampshire.

The company announced the upcoming production in a release, describing the show as a cult-hit musical with music, book, and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. Performances are set for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Arts Academy of New Hampshire, 19 Keewaydin Drive, #4, Salem.

"Ride The Cyclone" follows the Saint Cassian Chamber Choir after the group dies in a roller coaster accident. A fortune-telling machine then offers one of them a second chance at life if the group can unanimously decide who should return. The release describes the musical as a story told with insights into adolescence and a dark comedic style.

Darren Bernard directs the production, with music direction by Nate Faro and choreography and intimacy coordination by Crystal Welch. Cue Zero Theatre Company included a statement from Bernard about the show's premise and range of musical styles.

"What would you do if you had only 90 minutes to sing a song, listen to others sing theirs, and decide based on who deserves to come back to life? Welcome to Ride the Cyclone," Bernard said. "A dark comedy following 6 kids, one rat and a sentient fortune telling machine as they contemplate mortality, learn about themselves and each other, and come to terms with the fact that life is just in fact a ride. Whether you love French noir, rap music, folk ballads, pop diva numbers or even space furries; Ride the Cyclone has something for you. Will you board the Cyclone and join us on the ride of life?"

"Ride The Cyclone" is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing Global.

Tickets are available online and at the door for $20 plus fees per person. Additional details, audition sign-ups and updates are available through Cue Zero Theatre Company's social media pages and at CZTheatre.com.

Cue Zero Theatre Company said it was founded in December 2013 and is focused on supporting young artists on a professional level, with an emphasis on people in the early phases of their careers. The company said its projects are focused on growth for artists as both artists and people.

The Arts Academy of New Hampshire, where the show will be staged, is a chartered public high school, according to the release. The school said it is dedicated to fostering creative thinkers, active citizens, and independent learners through a curriculum that integrates the arts and academics.
