Arrested Salem Finance Director Resigns
Jane Savastano was arrested in February on a shoplifting charge; Town Manager Goodwin accepted her resignation today.

SALEM, NH - Jane Savastano, Salem’s finance director, who was arrested for shoplifting last month, has tendered her resignation, according to Town Manager Leon Goodwin III.
Goodwin stated that he accepted her resignation on March 22, 2016.
“Ms. Savastano served the Town with distinction for more than 10 years,” he said in a press statement. “The town appreciates the hard work, dedication and professionalism that Jane demonstrated throughout her tenure. We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Savastano was arrested on Feb. 19, 2016, at Macy’s at the Mall in Rockingham Park for allegedly concealing 11 items valued at nearly $600. She was arrested and released on personal recognizance bail. Savastano is due in court on April 4.
After learning of the incident, she was place on administrative leave, an acting-finance director was appointed, and the town started the process of performing a full audit.
