Atkinson Resort & Country Club Gets in the Fundraising Swing for BGCL
More than 80 golfers and donors contributed to raising over $17,000 at the seventh annual Peter A. Lewis Golf Tournament benefiting BGCL.
More than 80 golfers and numerous donors contributed to raising over $17,000 at the seventh annual Peter A. Lewis Golf Tournament benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence (BGCL) on August 11 at the Atkinson Resort & Country Club in Atkinson, N.H.
The winning foursome was Eric Whitmore of Danville, N.H.; Brandon Morse of Atkinson, N.H.; Andrew Koffman of Salem, N.H.; and Jonathan Morse of Atkinson, N.H. The event included a continental breakfast and lunch, raffles, and beat the pro, closest to the pin, and long drive contests.
The golf tournament is held in memory of Peter A. Lewis, founder of Atkinson Resort & Country Club and the Lewis Group of Companies, who passed away in May 2008. Since its inception, the golf tournament has raised $142,000 to help children break the cycle of poverty through BGCL, an organization which his family says was dear to his heart.

“My father taught me that it is important to keep the needs of others in mind, and to help whenever possible,” said Christine Lewis Morse, president and owner of the Atkinson Resort & Country Club. “This tournament is a great way to combine my father’s support for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence with his love of the resort and country club that he created. On behalf of my family and staff, we thank everyone who played, organized, donated cash and items, and participated in making this event such a tremendous success. We are truly overwhelmed with your continued generosity and support.”
Markus Fischer, executive director of BGCL, said the funds are vital. “We are very appreciative to the Atkinson Resort & Country Club,” he says. “It is through such generosity that we can keep our doors open for the city’s most disadvantaged youth.”
