The weekend of September 6th marked the start of the New Hampshire Saints hockey season. Five of the Saints teams played their first games in the Valley Hockey League.
On Friday night, Jared Natola and Vincent Annicchiarico each had two goals and Zachary DeBay and Austin Corea had outstanding games in goal as the Bantam 2 team defeated the Haverhill 5-2 at the Haverhill Valley Forum.
On Saturday morning, the Saints Squirt team put together a strong first effort in a loss to an experienced Belmont team at the Breakaway Rink in Tewskbury.
On Saturday afternoon, the Saints PeeWee team began the season against Everett/Revere. While the PeeWees came up short in their first game, they showed a lot of promise for the upcoming schedule.
On Saturday evening, the Saints Midget team had a strong effort in a 4-2 loss to Triboro at the Breakaway Rink in Tewskbury. Later that evening, the Bantam 1 team opened with a solid effort but came up short in a 4-0 loss to Wakefield.
On Sunday, the Saints Squirts suffered a loss to a solid Chelmsford team in their home rink. The weekend was capped off by the same team that began the season, with the Saints Bantam 2 team facing off against Andover. In a truly exciting game that featured non-stop end-to-end action, a second outstanding set of performances by Zachary DeBay and Austin Corea in goal and a late score by Hunter Healey resulted in a 1-1 tie.
All Saints teams will be in action next weekend, September 13th through the 15th. For information and game schedules, please visit the NH Saints website at http://www.nhsaints.com.
