Bettencourt: Please Elect Me as a GOP Convention Delegate on Tuesday
Former state Rep. explains why he would like support from Salem voters on Sept. 13, to attend the New Hampshire Republican State Convention

SALEM, NH — Among the offices Salem voters will be asked to vote on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, are to choose nine Delegates to the New Hampshire Republican State Convention. I am running to be one of your nine delegates from Salem.
The most frequent question I receive is what are the responsibilities of a delegate? Delegates preform two functions: First, to attend the New Hampshire Republican Convention on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, to help shape the NHGOP platform and second to attend the Rockingham County GOP convention to select members to become part of the NHGOP State Committee. Members of the state committee are then responsible for electing party leaders and approving all major party decisions. In classic New Hampshire tradition, the Republican Party has tasked voters with choosing who will take on those responsibilities.

So, why am I asking for your support to become a delegate? Regardless of the outcomes of the November elections, some very important decisions are ahead regarding the future of the New Hampshire Republican Party. I respectfully ask to have a voice in that discussion.

What is my platform? I’m a fiscal conservative who believes that the Republican Party needs to formulate conservative, free market solutions to contemporary societal challenges. I staunchly oppose a sales or income tax. I believe in balanced budgets and that low taxes are the result of low sending. With regard to social issues, I am pro-life and believe that education reform is the most pressing social issue we face because it deals with the future of our society, our children.
I appreciate that there are a wide range of issues on the minds of voters. I welcome any questions regarding the delegate process or my platform. Please to not hesitate to email me at betts24@gmail.com or call me at 603-247-2868.
