Birches Fundraisers, Pumpkinfest This Month
First prize in the charter school raffle drawing will be $10,000.

Birches Academy, Salem's new charter school located at 419 South Broadway, will be holding a craft fair and a raffle drawing in October.
A flyer for the Birches Pumpkinfest Arts & Crafts Fair which will take place at the school Sunday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. can be viewed to the right.
According to Paula Patten, president of The Foundation of Birches Academy, a fundraiser raffle is currently being held for the school.

Tickets are $100 and they can be purchased at the BP gas station on Main Street or by e-mailing Foundation@BirchesAcademy.org. Patten said first price is $10,000, with $2,500 for second prize and $500 for third prize.

The drawing is taking place Oct. 19 at the Derry-Salem Elks Lodge on Shadow Lake Road during the Night Out with Birches Academy. Patten said the event will run from 7 p.m. to midnight with food from local restaurants, raffles, silent auctions, dancing and a cash bar.
Raffle ticket holders will get free admittance while tickets are $10 for others.
"This event it open to the public and all proceeds help the children of Birches Academy," Patten said.
