Another full weekend of Valley Hockey League provided another full weekend of exciting New England Saints Youth Hockey program wins.
FRIDAY
The weekend began on Friday night for the Bantam 2 team, who came up short despite a late third period rally in a 6-3 loss to Newburyport in Haverhill. Nick Sorcinelli tallied 2 goals and Mike Vicente added one for the team.
SATURDAY
Saturday morning began with the Mite team scoring another win, this time against Concord-Carlisle in Tewksbury. Noah Tanguay, Hunter Marcin, Andy Sylvain, Tyler Kirby and Colby Savageau all scored, and Tedy Hannon went the distance in goal for a big performance.
The Squirt team came up short in a loss to Action-Boxboro in Tyngsboro in the afternoon.
The PeeWee team played to a 4-4 tie on with Amesbury in Exeter Saturday afternoon. Scott Cavan scored 2 goals, while Jack Flanagan and Joey Reagan added a goal apiece.
The Bantam 2 team took to the ice for the second time in the weekend and rebounded from their Friday loss with a solid 4-0 victory over the Demons in Tewksbury. Nick Sorcinelli, Mike Vicente, Tyler Windt and Bobby Merchel all scored goals, while Austin Corea and Zach DeBay combined for the shutout in net.
SUNDAY
Sunday's action began with the Saints Bantam 2 team finishing their three-game weekend strong, posting a convincing 7-1 win over Groton on Sunday in Methuen. For the second consecutive game, scoring was balanced. Goals were scored by Bobby Merchel (2), Jared Natola, Hunter Healey, Mike Vicente, Vinnie Annicchiarico and Nick Sorcinelli.
The Squirt team posted a strong effort but came up short against Andover during the afternoon in Haverhill.
The PeeWee team easily defeating Andover 6-0 in Haverhill in a match-up of top division teams during the afternoon. Mike Drouin and Spencer Deane combined in goal for the shutout. Scott Cavan had a four-point game with a goal and 3 assists, while Will Marggraf and Jake Natola each had 2 goals and Sean Connors added an unassisted goal. The Saints kept the puck moving all night with crisp passes to break it out of the defensive zone, led by Will Caraccio and Jack Flanagan.
Sunday's slate of action concluded with the Bantam 1 team posting a 3-3 tie with NH East in Exeter.
