Transition Medical Weight Loss in Salem has been named a Gold Winner for Best Weight Loss Center in the Best of the 603 awards for the fourth consecutive year, earning the recognition in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
The award comes during a period of continued growth for the practice. Since opening, Transition Medical Weight Loss has helped more than 2,500 patients achieve more than 60,000 pounds of collective weight loss while continuing to expand access to comprehensive, evidence-based obesity care.
One of the biggest recent developments has been the expansion of insurance coverage. Transition now accepts Medicare and is in network with most major commercial insurance plans, including Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Ambetter, and Mass General Brigham Health Plan, along with several Medicare Advantage plans.
Transition's multidisciplinary approach goes well beyond simply prescribing weight loss medication. Patients may receive medical evaluation and follow-up, nutrition counseling with a Registered Dietitian, body composition analysis, customized fitness guidance, laboratory testing, behavioral support, structured nutrition options, and FDA-approved anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1 therapies when medically appropriate. The team also assists patients with insurance prior authorizations for obesity medications.
"Our goal at Transition is to bring the best evidence we have into real-world clinical practice while helping patients navigate nutrition, exercise, medications, insurance barriers, and long-term maintenance," said Joseph Zucchi, PA-C, MPAS, Clinical Supervisor at Transition Medical Weight Loss. "Winning Best of the 603 for a fourth consecutive year is especially meaningful because it reflects the trust our patients have placed in our team."
Zucchi also serves on the board of the New England Obesity Society and is actively involved in national obesity medicine education, speaking, advocacy, and medical communication. His work and commentary have appeared in outlets including Bloomberg, Forbes Health, Medscape, USA Today, The Boston Globe, Doximity, and MedPage Today.
Transition Medical Weight Loss provides in-person care in Salem as well as virtual care for eligible patients in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
