Comic Con in Salem?

The Kelly Library is hosting a mini comic con on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Submitted by Brittany Tuttle, Youth Services Librarian at Kelley Library:

Why go to Boston or San Diego, when there is going to be a great mini Comic Con right here in Salem? Geared for teens, but open to anyone with an interest in comics, cosplay, and games, the mini Comic Con will be at the Kelley Library on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10-1.

There will be a wide variety of vendors, activities, and events. Marek Bennett, local NH musician and graphic novel artist, will be offering an hour long workshop – Comics 101 – on creating your own graphic novel. He will also be on hand selling his books and mini-comics. Double Midnight Comics, hosts of the Granite State Comicon, is partnering with the library, will be providing professional Cosplayers, and will be on hand selling comics, graphic novels and collectibles.  Chris’ Cards and Comics, located here in Salem, will be selling cards and comics. Salem’s own Myriad Games will be leading 4 different gaming demos throughout the day. Shauna Leva, a caricaturist, will be here to create caricatures based on comic characters. Rounding out the event will be a DIY recycled graphic novel jewelry table, along with a candy sushi bar. Additionally, Cosplay is encouraged for all attendees, and prizes will be awarded.

Details for the event can be found on the Kelley Library’s website (kelleylibrary.org), or by calling the library (603-898-7064) or visiting the library at 234 Main St., Salem.
