According to police, officers were called to Sally’s Beauty Supply on South Broadway for a report of an armed robbery. The man was described as white, wearing dark clothing, brandished a knife, and demanded money.

The store employee handed over money to the man in a white plastic bag and the man fled the scene, according to police.

As officers were called to the area, they reportedly observed Banks – who allegedly matched the description – running toward South Broadway, according Lt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.

“Officers were able to stop the male and located a plastic bag with money nearby,” Dolan said. “Officers were also able to locate a large 12-inch kitchen knife on the ground in the area the male had been running.”

The store employees were allegedly identified Banks as the man who had just robbed the store and he was arrested.

Banks was held in the Rockingham County House of Corrections and was arraigned this morning in Salem District Court.

Dolan noted that all of the money from the robbery was recovered.
