Exciting, anxious, enlightening, enthusiastic and fun: these are all emotions that could describe the first day at on Wednesday, which opened its doors with new renovations.
It was the first day of school across the Salem district Wednesday, yet there was special excitement in the air at Lancaster due to the changes the school has undergone since the summer.
Principal Adam Pagliarulo said the first day, in addition to Monday night's ice cream social, went very well.

"The feedback we've received has been great so far," Pagliarulo said. He was particularly excited about the school's first-ever gymnasium, which he said will be finished soon.
"We have very few shared spaces now like before," Pagliarulo said.

Parents were similarly happy with the school. Jackie Titone, mother of kindergarten student Tommy, was excited about the first day for her son.
"His classroom is brand new," she said while waiting for his class to be dismissed for the day at 11:30 a.m. "It's all very exciting."
"They did a great job here," said Donny Piccirillo, whose son, Joey, also had his first day of kindergarten Wednesday.
Donny, who went through the Salem school system himself, was impressed with the turnout at Monday night's ice cream social.
Jacob Marconi, 5, said his first day at kindergarten was "good" and learned about reading.
and Schools also underwent renovations this summer. The public will be invited to open houses at all three schools on Sept. 16 and 17.
