Former Salem Political Candidate Charged with Illegal Dumping
Police cited Michael W. Petrilli Sr., a former Republican state representative and Board of Selectmen candidate, earlier this month.

A local pol is in hot water for allegedly using a dumpster that he was not allowed to use, according to a Salem Police report.
Michael W. Petrilli Sr., 65, of Granite Avenue in Salem, received a summons for unlawful activities; litter control at 1:49 p.m. on Aug. 9, 2015.

According to police, an officer was sent to a report of illegal dumping at the Market Basket on Broadway.
The officer reportedly found a subject throwing trash into the dumpster owned by Sally’s Beauty Supply. The subject, Petrilli, “removed his trash from the dumpster and will not use it again,” according to the report. He was given a summons to appear in court for illegal dumping.

According to online reports, Petrilli was one of three candidates that ran for two seats on Salem’s Board of Selectman in 2014. He placed third, about 550 votes behind the second place finisher. He also filed to run for state representative as a Republican in 2014 and placed 15th out of 19 candidates.
