Garabedian: Why I will be Voting for Bettencourt on Tuesday
Business leader in Salem says that DJ's experience on Economic Development Action Committee will help the town.

By Corey Garabedian
As a Salem resident and business leader, the future of Salem’s economy is of great concern to me. This Tuesdays (March 8) election will have an important impact on our economy and we must select leaders who will be smart and capable stewards of our town’s finances. For that reason, I am enthusiastically supporting D.J. Bettencourt for the Budget Committee.
I first had the opportunity to work with D.J. when he was the Vice-Chairman of the Economic Development Action Committee. He was appointed to the committee in 2014 and 2015. In both cases he was appointed by a unanimous vote of the Selectmen. It quickly became clear to me why people with very different viewpoints all supported him. D.J. immediately showed that he has a passion and deep love for Salem. He cares about people and worked hard to help expand Salem’s economic base to allow the town to cut high property taxes that are hurting many, many people. There is no question that keeping Salem affordable is a priority for him.

D.J. is firm but always fair. While he is a conservative, he is someone who keeps an open mind and has the ability to bring people together to solve difficult problems. It is also very clear that D.J. is a very smart man. Now more than ever, we need smart people making the financial choices for our town.
D.J. Bettencourt is a good man who deserves our support on March 8 for Budget Committee.
