Get Ready for Farm-to-Fork Community Cookout

The first annual event, sponsored by the Salem NH Farmers' Market, will be held on Aug. 3.

August is NH Eat Local Month and the Salem NH Farmers’ Market is hosting a number of “special activities” to celebrate the month.

The first is a “Farm-to-Fork Community Cookout,” the first of its kind, to be held at the Lake Street Garden Center.

The event is a way to thank the farmers and vendors while also creating “an enjoyable, healthy community event focused on the local produce and products they provide,” according to organizers.

Everything served – from hamburgers and sausages to sides and desserts – will all be prepared by the market, its farmers, and vendors. A guest chef from Williams-Sonoma will do some of the grilling and Cow Hampshire Folk will provide entertainment.

The cost is $10, per adult, $5 for seniors and children under 12.

On Aug. 10, Guest cookbook author Susan Crowther will host a cooking demo and book signing of The No Recipe Cookbook; on Aug. 17, a guest chef from Williams-Sonoma will host a canning demonstration.

“We hope to see you and your family, friends and neighbors visit us as we continue to bring you the best in quality for farm grown and prepared products,” said Jane Lang, the president of the board of trustees of the market.
