Get Ready For Town Elections In Salem

Town elections are on March 12 in Salem. The filing period for candidates will be held from Jan. 24 to Feb. 2.

SALEM, NH — Town elections are on March 12 in Salem. The filing period for candidates will be held from Jan. 24 to Feb. 2.

Town Council: Three seats are up this year. The terms are for three years. The incumbents are Robert Bryant, James Keller, and Lisa Withrow.

Budget Committee: Three seats are up this year. The terms are for three years. The incumbents are Sean Lewis, Brian Thornock (replaced Peter Edgerly), and Jeffrey Boyer. There is also a one year Budget Committee seat. The incumbent is Jon Stark (who replaced DJ Bettencourt).

Town moderator: One two-year seat. The incumbent is Christopher Goodnow.

The Supervisor of the Checklist position, which runs six years, is also up this year. Melissa Sorcinelli is the incumbent.

Library trustee has one three-year seat open. The incumbent is Christopher George.

There is one three-year Trustee of the Trust Funds that will be considered this year that is currently held by Sean Lewis.

There are two Planning Board seats on the ballot in 2024. They are three-year terms. The incumbents are Keith Belair and Damon Norcross (who replaced Paul Pelletier).

ZBA has two three-year seats up this year. Edward Huminick and Kellie Annicelli are the incumbents.

There is also a one-year Zoning Board of Adjustment seat that is currently held by Dionne Garon (who replaced Bonnie Wright).

According to Town Clerk Susan Wall, the filing period for seats will run from Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, through Friday, Feb. 02. Anyone interested in running for office must file at the Town Clerk’s Office, 33 Geremonty Drive. Candidates must be a registered voter in Salem. The town clerk's office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Town Meeting -First Deliberative Session – will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 17 at Salem High School.

The annual town election will be held on March 12. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
