​Greater Salem Chamber Honors Local Businessman

George "Sonny" Tylus of APP Imprints, LLC will receive the William A. Brown Businessperson of the Year Award on Sept. 20, in Windham.

SALEM, NH — The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the recipient of the 2017 William A. Brown Distinguished Businessperson Award, according to a press release. This year marks the 29th Anniversary of the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner, and the 36th presentation of this award, as it was originally presented by the Salem Commerce Exchange. The William A. Brown Award, the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce’s most prestigious award, is presented to an individual who has enhanced the business environment of the Greater Salem community.

This award is given in the memory of William A. Brown, who was the first to receive it. Carrying on with this great tradition, the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce and the Platinum Sponsor, Bank of New England, are very pleased to present the 2016 William A. Brown Businessperson of the Year Award to George “Sonny” Tylus of APP Imprints, LLC.

Sonny Tylus has been involved with the Chamber of Commerce for 20 years. In that time, he has served as Chairman of the Marketing, Ambassador, New Member, Bill Brown selection & EXPO committees as well been the Secretary, Vice President and is currently a board member having served 11 years. The Chamber has awarded him the Volunteer of the Year as well a Certificate of Appreciation for his services.

Sonny has been involved with youth baseball and soccer as a coach. He was past President of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, served on Salem ‘s 250th celebration as the marketing chairman of the First Night event and as a producer for Salem Cable TV of the Chamber & the Boys & Girls Club TV shows. He was a reporter for the Salem Patriot newspaper. He is currently President of the Board of Directors for Salemhaven /Silverthorne and Friends of Servicelink. Sonny works for APP Imprints and has been with them for 11 years. The company’s philosophy is quality products in a timely fashion. He likes to help businesses grow their identity and market share. In his spare time, Sonny also writes for the Salem Life magazine covering non-profit organizations

Sonny lives in Salem with his wife, Janice, and sons, Michael and Matthew.

The Chamber will also be honoring the following volunteers for their hard work and dedication to the Chamber over the past year: Christine Steele, Office Manager for the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce will receive the Chairman’s Award, and Leah Rogers of Enterprise Bank as Volunteers of the Year. The presentations will take place on Sept. 20, 2017, at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner & Meeting. The event will be held Castleton Banquet and Conference Center in Windham, and will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. Dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m., with the presentation of awards immediately following. Tickets are $75 per person, with tables of 10 available.
