Hassan Appoints Bipartisan Group to Presidential Primary Centennial Anniversary Commission

The commission will plan, coordinate events, activities commemorating 100th anniversary of the primary, first held on March 14, 1916.

In order to help celebrate New Hampshire’s First In The Nation presidential primary, Gov. Maggie Hassan recently appointed a bipartisan group of five members to serve on the Presidential Primary Centennial Anniversary Commission.

Hassan appointed John Harrigan of Colebrook, James Demers of Concord, Joseph Keefe of Rye, Jayne Millerick of Bow and Jennifer Daler of Temple. The group includes one member from each of the state’s five Executive Council districts, as well as bipartisan representation with three Democrats and two Republicans.

“Our First In The Nation presidential primary is one of New Hampshire’s most cherished traditions, representing our vibrant and robust citizen-led democracy that makes the Granite State the perfect place to begin the presidential nominating process,” Hassan said in a statement. “These five members have extensive experience with the unique political history and culture in New Hampshire and represent the diversity of our state geographically, politically and professionally. I thank them for their commitment to serve on the commission and am confident that they will help us celebrate the 100th anniversary of the New Hampshire presidential primary in the manner that will reflect its vibrant and critical role in our democracy.”
