Seeking Salem High School families to host a boy from Spain for 17 days
We are in GREAT need of 2 host families for two boys. Salem High School families will welcome this 17-day group following successful German group visit last year. These students are from Burgos, arriving August 31-September 17. Do you think you could help?
Please read these mini-introductions, and perhaps one looks like a good fit for your family:
Javier is 15. He likes sports, soccer is his favorite. Videogames, Visits the sea every summer to visit family; has an older brother.

Sergio is 14, will turn 15 in September. Likes basketball, movies, friends, to travel, has an older brother; has a beach house where they go in Summer. Likes to go bowling, shopping, listening to music
Once school starts, they are busy every day, Monday-Friday. All students speak English, and have their own spending money. The two boys are 15. They want to come to the US to learn about our country and the most beneficial way is as a member of an American family. It is not as demanding as it seems. The family provides a bed (they can share a room) and meals and allows the visitor to participate in its usual activities.

Any family, large or small, with similar age children can be a host family~ Charter School families, Private School families, school choice families, Home-school families are invited to join the fun! The only requirement is a desire to welcome a foreign student into one’s family circle and show him/her the same interest and caring any traveler seeks when in a strange land, to include them in your meals, and to provide local transportation.
“The program goes so quickly, and you will have the support of other Salem families, a full schedule of activities, Monday-Friday,” stated Sue Boswell, Carousel Tours Coordinator, “evenings and weekends will be spent with host family.
While the response so far has been positive, we have yet to find enough host families. Summer has proven to be a challenge to connect with Salem families. We are still looking for families who enjoy learning about a different culture and making lasting friendships. We realize families are already quite busy, and if you have weekend plans already we can arrange for a fill-in host family, or better yet, bring your student along! We can help set-up carpooling to facilitate your participation. The goal of the program is to include them in your day to day schedule. The more you do, the better their experience, whether from the grocery store, to the soccer field, to music lessons, and home, they are here for a typical few weeks as part of an American family. They will have a true immersion into your family and a great experience as well.
The students are from Burgos, Spain, in northern Spain; they will be participating in various school days and full day activities and trips to area attractions including: Boston, Cambridge, local activities, and more. Trips will depart and return from Salem. ALL transportation requested of host families will be local. We will keep them busy from start of school day until 5:00pm most days, Monday-Friday. Evenings and weekends are spent with the host family. We hope this will be the beginning of some wonderful friendships.
We are looking for two more host families who are able to welcome a student into your lives for 17 days!
This can be the start of a lifelong friendship. A connection that can pass to the next generation as it has with so many families, and open doors to a lifetime of travel. So many wonderful stories begin with a family taking a chance and hosting a student.
Applications from Spain are here and matches can be made as soon as families sign up to host: http://www.carousel-tours.com/...
We look forward to hearing from you.
