On behalf of the Salem Animal Rescue League and Rockingham Toyota, we would like to invite all area parents and children to join us at Rockingham Toyota on Saturday, February 15th from 11:00am-2:00pm to celebrate National Responsible Pet Owners Month.

Did you know that February is Responsible Pet Owner Month? This is the month that pet owners are urged to get their pets spayed and neutered. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that six to eight million cats and dogs end up in animal shelters every year. However, responsible pet ownership includes several other important responsibilities. These include ensuring your pet has a healthy diet, is getting adequate exercise, and is properly trained.

It is important to us that we help educate future generations about the importance of responsible pet ownership so that someday every animal can find a permanent and loving home.

As such, we are proud to host this educational and fun event for children and families. The day will feature famed entertainer Leland Faulkner, who is a magician, a character actor, and a mime artist and is famed for his shadowgraphs and chapeaugraphy. The event will also feature: Raffles, face painting, food, balloon animals, games, gift bags, educational materials and photographs with SARL’s Mascot, “Rocky.”

There is a $5 donation for entrance and all proceeds will benefit SARL and the Hayes Family Scholarship, which is awarded each year to a high school senior interested in pursuing a college career in animal sciences, pre-veterinary/veterinary technology, or a related field.
