Kuster Hears from Veterans During Roundtable

Kuster discussed her bill to protect the Veterans Choice Card program from cuts in the President's budget.

Last week, U.S. Rep. Ann McLane, D-NH, hosted a roundtable discussion with local veterans in Berlin. The roundtable provided North Country veterans with an opportunity to share their experiences with the Congresswoman, and outline ways she can continue to fight in Washington on their behalf.

“Serving our nation’s veterans has always been one of my top priorities, and I was so pleased to hear from North Country veterans during this afternoon’s roundtable about how I can continue to go to bat for them in Washington,” said Kuster. “During today’s roundtable, participants provided me with their input on ways we can improve access to veterans’ health care in the North Country, and help ease the transition back to civilian life for veterans all across the nation. I offer a sincere thank you to every veteran who attended my roundtable, and I look forward to sharing your concerns with my colleagues on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, so we can keep fighting for you every step of the way.”

During the roundtable, North Country veterans were given a chance to share their thoughts and concerns with the Congresswoman. Kuster also provided updates on her most recent work on veterans’ issues in Washington, including information about a bill she recently introduced to protect the new Veterans Choice Card program from harmful cuts in the President’s budget request.

Kuster currently serves on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and she helped lead the investigation into mismanagement scandals at VA centers in Phoenix and across the nation last year. She was recently selected by her colleagues to serve as Ranking Member of the Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation, which will allow the Congresswoman to continue to provide increased oversight at the VA to ensure every veteran can easily access the care he or she needs. Since taking office, Kuster has held a series of roundtables throughout the state with veteran service organizations and local veterans to hear directly from them about how Congress can best serve their needs.
