Kuster Hosts Manufacturing Summit

At Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Kuster touts support for advanced manufacturing in New Hampshire.

U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, D-NH, heard from students and industry leaders during a manufacturing summit she hosted at the Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM) in Keene yesterday, according to a press statement.

This summit also helped connect industry leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs with resources in the Monadnock area to help grow their business and create jobs. Helping small businesses expand and thrive in the Granite State is one of Kuster’s top priorities in Congress, and at this summit she heard directly from New Hampshire manufacturers and experts about ways to support them on the federal level.

“I have made supporting job creation and helping our small businesses grow one of my top priorities in Congress,” said Kuster. “That’s why I hosted today’s manufacturing summit to help connect entrepreneurs with resources in the Monadnock Region. I have been a strong advocate for advanced manufacturing in the Granite State, and it was great to hear directly from students and business leaders today so that I can continue to go to bat for them on the federal level.”

Kuster was joined by students and industry leaders for a panel discussion on how Congress can best support the manufacturing sector and job creation in New Hampshire. In addition to RCAM students, participants including RCAM Executive Director Bill Gurney, New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership Director Zenagui Brahim, and Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce President Phil Suter. The discussion focused on challenges faced by manufacturers in the Monadnock Region and ways that Congress can best support innovation and economic growth. Kuster also highlighted her work to support New Hampshire manufacturers at the federal level.

Kuster has long supported efforts to foster job creation and expand New Hampshire’s manufacturing sector. At the request of a Milford manufacturer, she recently cosponsored the Manufacturing Reinvestment Account Act to support manufacturers by allowing them to create tax-advantaged savings accounts to help them purchase new equipment, expand facilities, and improve workforce development programs. Kuster has also supported a series of “Make It In America” proposals focused on restoring jobs and reviving the U.S. manufacturing economy, and has fought to establish a Manufacturing Innovation Institute in New Hampshire.
