Oct. 6: Last Chance To Change Political Party Affiliation Before 2024 Presidential Primary
Friday is the last day to change your political party affiliation before the 2024 first-in-the-nation presidential primary.

SALEM, NH — Friday, Oct. 6, is the last day to change your political party affiliation before the 2024 first-in-the-nation presidential primary.
Residents of Salem can register to vote, make changes, or switch parties through Friday. At 7 p.m., the Supervisors of the Checklist will meet at the lower level of the municipal office building and voters can make changes at that time. Changes can also be made at the town clerk’s office through 5 p.m. on Oct. 6.
New voters must be at least 18 to register with a picture ID and proof of domicile. Naturalized citizens must show a passport or documented citizenship papers.

Voters can check their voter status in the checklist, which is at the town clerk’s office and the Kelley Library reference area.
Voters registered in a political party must take that ballot of the party they are registered in any primary. Undeclared voters have the option of choosing either ballot. After voting, undeclared voters should unregistered at the polls on the day of the vote if they want to become undeclared again.

The date for the 2024 presidential primary has not been set, but candidate registrations begin later this month.
