Why are you seeking elective office?
I feel that I can bring a business background to the Selectboard. As a small business owner I know how to make financial decisions for the longevity and long-term growth of a successful business and believe that the town should be run in the same manner. As a member of the planning board, budget committee and Master Plan Steering Committee, I understand the needs and wants of the town and would like to implement them as Selectman.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The single most pressing issue for our town is maintaining our small town feel, while growing into the next 10-15 years. This growth coupled with being fiscally responsible(taxes) is going to be a very big challenge. I intend to work with the residents, department heads and 4 other members of the board to inmate the new Master Plan, that guides all of the things previously mentioned.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The biggest difference between myself and the other candidate is that I previously haven't held the position. My opponent has held his seat for the last 12 years. It is time for a change, keep taxes in check and grow the town to the residents expectations.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
I believe that the current office holder has failed the community by not growing with the needs of the community, while creating a wedge between town staff and the select board. The previous Master Plan sat without ever being implemented beyond its infancy, taxes have skyrocketed and town buildings are in need of major repair.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
I am not an insider. I moved to this town 8 years ago because of the charm, schools and sense of community. As a small business owner I am very well versed in dealing with many different types of personalities on a daily basis and can basically work with anyone. My goals are to help guide the growth of this town, focused on all residents needs, while being financially responsible. I bring a wealth of real world knowledge, and a deep understanding of maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have run my own business successfully for 15 years, hold a degree in Business with a focus in Leadership, ran multi-million jobs for a major NE contractor and lead a non-profit comprised of 26 private business owners.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Work hard every day and success will follow. My grandfather use to prach his to me and is the inspiration for my insane work ethic.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I would like the voters to know that I work very hard and I challenge them to find anyone that will work harder than me. I am a family man to the core and that always comes first. We live in this town and chose it for a reason and would like it to be even greater going forward.
