December 17, 2015- UNICO Merrimack Valley, the local chapter of the largest Italian-American service organization in the United States, has announced that is now accepting applications from area high school seniors for the opportunity to receive one (1) of five (5) $2,500.00 scholarship grants. Candidates shall be of Italian heritage, seek to peruse their education at a four-year college or university, and shall have demonstrated strong achievement in academic studies and extra-curricular activities. Prospective applicants should visit the Chapters’s Website at www.unicomerrimackvalley.org to download the scholarship application and to review application instructions and all applicable information. The Deadline to submit applications is March 15, 2015.



UNICO was founded in 1947. The name is the Italian word for “unique” or “one of a kind” in later years, UNICO has become an acronym for Unity, Neighborliness, Integrity, Charity and Opportunity. The Merrimack Valley Chapter was founded in 1990 and is comprised today of approximately 60 prominent men of the Merrimack Valley who engage in charitable works, support higher education, preform patriotic deeds, and retain a connection to their Italian heritage. Since its inception, UNICO Merrimack Valley has awarded over $200,000.00 in scholarships to deserving area students and has donated over $800,000 to local Charities in the Merrimack Valley.
