Lord & Taylor to Open March 16

The Eagle-Tribune reported today that high-end clothing store Lord & Taylor will hold its grand opening Friday, March 16 at the Mall at Rockingham Park, opening its doors at 10 a.m.

The store will occupy a newly-renovated 122,000-square-foot space that has previously housed Jordan Marsh and Macy's dating back to 1993, with the space vacant since Macy's moved to the former Filene's location at the mall in 2006, the paper reported.

Local officials told the Eagle-Tribune they feel the opening of the store is a good sign for the local economy, with Selectman Michael Lyons saying Lord & Taylor "obviously have demographic numbers that indicate it's going to be profitable for them" to be in Salem.
